English: 1936 coup as presented in schoolbook during Francoism. Exact year unclear.
  • The text claims that Spain has been poorly governed, with street shootings and burning churches; to put an end to this, Franco and the army rose and following 3 years of war they liberated Spain from enemies; the Spaniards named Franco their caudillo and since 1936 he has been gloriously ruling the country.
  • Note that there are 3 groups represented in the upper-right picture: 1) the military, with the Spanish standard and in the leading position; 2) Falange, with their party standard and in blue party shirt (but also with red beret, unheard of in Falange in 1936 and declared headgear of the united FET in 1937), following the military and preceding the Carlists; 3) Carlists, with their standard and iconic red beret, though presented in odd all-white gear (resembling Basques in their folk costume), pictured as the last
