Description

IWM caption : "THE THIRD BATTLE OF YPRES. Battle of Poelcappelle: Manhandling an 18-pounder field gun through the mud near Langemarck, 16 October 1917."


Comment : The Battle of Poelcappelle was fought on 9th October. If the date of 16th October is correct, this may in fact show a gun being brought up for the Second Battle of Passchendaele which began on 26th October.
