Das Bild befand sich - vermittelt durch das Kunsthaus Lempertz, Köln - seit September 1986 als Leihgabe aus schwedischem Privatbesitz im Wallraf-Richartz-Museum und konnte im September 1988 mit Unterstützung der Kulturstiftung der Länder, Berlin, des Kuratoriums des Wallraf-Richartz-Museum/Museums Ludwig, Köln, der Freunde des Wallraf-Richartz-Museum und Museum Ludwig, Köln, und zahlreicher Kölner Bürger erworben werden.
