English: Structural diagram of the cyclitol 1,2,3,5-cyclohexanetetrol (cyclohexane-1,2,3,5-tetrol, 1,2,3,5-tetrahydroxycyclohexane).
There are 8 stereoisomers with this structure, that differ on the position of the hydroxyls relative to the mean plane of the ring. Four of those (1,2,3,5/0, 1,2,3/5 1,3,5/2, and 1,3/2,5) are achiral, and the other 4 constitute 2 enantiomer pairs (D,L-1,2,5/3 and D,L-1,2/3,5). This count considers the ring planar, and does not take into account geometric isomerism due to distortion of the ring from planarity (the "boat" and "chair" conformations).
