Description
English: East views of the Cathedral of Saint Cecilia - Apse. CCésar Daly undertakes the restoration of the cathedral in 1845 and resigns, his mission accomplished in 1877. The waterproofing of the roof threatens the paintings of the vault. He supervises the restoration of the roof and modifies it. The tiled roofs overhanging the walls as on many buildings are shortened, the walls are raised by seven meters and have a cornice decorated with a vault. They hide the roof from the sight of visitors. The circular buttresses are provided with pinnacles, but protests from the inhabitants lead to their dismantling with the exception of three of them.
