Description"Young Abraham Lincoln" by James Lee Hansen.jpg
English: A very young Abraham Lincoln. This statue is a duplicate of the granite version which is in Los Angeles. For the 1876 Centennial celebration in Philadelphia, this plaster cast was made from the original to be displayed at that fair. The original is made of granite which was too costly to ship cross country for the exposition, so this plaster one was made. At the end of the fair, it was donated to the DC Recorder of Deeds office where it immediately drew complaints...due to it showing a former president without a shirt and barefoot.
