Photograph of a group of teachers from Ekwendeni, which is in the northern region of Malawi. Dr Elmslie can be seen standing to the left of the group. The teachers are grouped in 4 rows and most are dressed in white.; Walter Angus Elmslie (1856-1935) was the author of "Among the wild Ngoni, some chapters in the history of the Livingstonia mission in British Central Africa" (New York, 1899). Ekwendeni was started by Scottish missionaries and has one of the oldest churches in Malawi.
