The labourers were similar in status to the peasants the Middle Ages. If they lived in the country - and mo did - they would work on a farm. Some had their ow small piece of land to grow their own vegetables and keep a few chickens. Some labourers lived in towns an might have worked as carpenters, tailors, shoemakers or bricklayers. Labourers made up about 60 per cent o the population.
