Production

[edit]

At the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Henry Selick stated that he had been developing a film adaptation of the novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. He had written a treatment and come up with artwork and concept designs that he was shopping to production studios such as ShadowMachine and Laika. Selick described the film as "almost a sequel" to his 2009 film Coraline, also based on an eponymous novel by Gaiman.[1]

In August 2024, Selick revealed that the development of the film was in an uncertain state and financement was more difficult than expected.[2]
