Taubmans Paints Taubmans Paints is one of Australia's oldest and most recognized paint manufacturing companies. Established in 1897 by George Henry Taubman (1862–1938) and Nathaniel James Taubman (1864–1931), the company was created to produce paints tailored to Australia's unique climate.[1] Over the years, Taubmans has become a household name for its commitment to quality and innovation.
History Taubmans was founded in 1897 in St Peters, Sydney, by brothers George and Nathaniel Taubman. George, a signwriter, and Nathaniel, a businessman, collaborated to develop durable, high-quality paints suited to Australia's harsh weather conditions. The company was incorporated as Taubmans Pty Ltd in 1912.[1]
By the 1940s, Taubmans had expanded its operations across Australia and New Zealand. The company’s development of weather-resistant paint formulations allowed it to compete successfully against imported products.[2]
In 2007, Taubmans was acquired by PPG Industries, a global leader in coatings and specialty materials.[3] This acquisition brought advanced technologies and expanded Taubmans' reach within the international coatings market. The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2022, marking over a century of contributions to the industry.[4]
Products and Offerings Taubmans produces a wide range of paints, including:
Interior paints: Designed for durability and aesthetics. Exterior paints: Engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions. Eco-friendly paints: Offering low-VOC options certified for sustainability.[5] Its products are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial projects, with a significant presence in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Legacy and Recognition Taubmans has been recognized for its contributions to paint technology and its lasting impact on the coatings industry in Australia. The brand remains a trusted choice among professional painters and homeowners due to its reliability and quality.[6]
Following its acquisition by PPG Industries, Taubmans continues to evolve, integrating global research and development advancements to maintain its market relevance.
