Steins;Gate Re:Boot is an upcoming video game developed by Mages. It is a remake of Steins;Gate (2009) and is part of the Science Adventure series. The game is planned to release in 2025 and will feature new artwork made by original artist hugo as well as new additions to the story.[1]
Development
[edit]During the last moments of the Steins;Gate 15th anniversary event ("STEINS;GATE 15th LIVE - ONE WORLD"), which took place on October 27, 2024, a trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot[2] was revealed to the audience.
Prior to the trailer reveal, there was no information regarding Steins;Gate Re:Boot. Hence, it is unclear when development for Steins;Gate Re:Boot began.
Speculation & Controversy
[edit]- On October 25, 2020, the MAGES. Game Channel on YouTube livestreamed a panel featuring the cast of Steins;Gate which mainly discussed their business strategies moving forward. During the livestream, Steins;??? was revealed to the audience. [3] Chiyomaru Shikura had stated that Steins;??? would be a thematic sequel to Steins;Gate, like how Chaos;Child is a thematic sequel to Chaos;Head Noah. During the 15th anniversary event, some Science Adventure series fans anticipated new information to be revealed regarding Steins;???. It is currently unknown whether: Steins;??? is in development as well, if Steins;??? later developed into becoming Steins;Gate Re:Boot or if Steins;??? was completely scraped as an idea. The lack of information regarding Steins;??? upset part of the audience.
- Some fans of the Steins;Gate series considered Elite versions of the visual novels to be remasters. As such, the same fans were disappointed to witness the reveal of this third video game depicting the same plot.
