Musical Journey

[edit]

Vid. Kum.Dr. Sarvepalli Sreya & Vid. Kum.(Dr). Sarvepalli Raja Lakshmi, were born in a family of ardent music lovers. Their paternal & maternal grandparents were Datta & Sai devotees respectively. With the divine grace & guidance of Sri Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji, their parents Dr. Ajay Kumar & Dr. Lakshmi Sarada recognized their children's inclination towards music. While Sreya started her musical odyssey at a tender age of two, Raja Lakshmi's journey began even at an earlier age as Ekalavya Sishya learning from her elder sister's music classes.

Initial learning

Sreya was 2 years 7 months old when she won the first prize in a competition conducted by the Indian Medical Association at Nellore. She sang a Ganapathi Bhajan which her mother taught. Thereafter, she was initiated into learning music from Smt. Sailaja Vanisree of Nellore. Raja Lakshmi who is 3 years younger than Sreya, started listening to her sister's classes and eventually started her lessons too. Slowly both of them started receiving prizes at various competitions conducted locally.

Further learning

[edit]

Seeing Sreya & Raja Lakshmi grasping their music lessons well, the parents decided to passionately let them learn further. In 2008, they started learning music under Sangeethacharya Dr. Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam of Hyderabad. Every Sunday, the parents took these sisters to travel for about 10 hours, only for the sake of their music lessons. And the next day they are seen in their schools back to their educational routine. This required a lot of compromises & sacrifices from the parents.

For the past six years they have been the disciples of Padma Bhushan Awardee, Sangita Kalanidhi, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Smt. Dr. Sudha Ragunathan, Chennai.

[edit]
