Sarah Ahmad (Urdu: سارہ احمد; born 17 November 1986) is a Pakistani politician and child rights activist. She is currently a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and serves as the Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau Punjab.

Political career

On 8 February 2019, Sarah Ahmad took charge as Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, a department under the Government of Punjab.[1]

She represented Pakistan at the United Nations conference on violence against children on 19 September 2023 in New York.[2][3]

In the 2024 Pakistani general election, she was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on reserved seats for women from Punjab.[4][5][6]

Awards

In 2022, Sarah Ahmad received the Global Collaborative Award in Rome, Italy, for her advocacy against child sexual abuse in Pakistan.[7]

In March 2024, she was presented with Pakistan's Woman of Courage Award by Donald Blome, the United States Ambassador to Pakistan.[8]

On 23 March 2024, she received the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a state-organised honour in Pakistan awarded to civilians and military personnel for their outstanding achievements and services to the state. The award was presented by the President of Pakistan.[9][10]
