Ryan Fitzgerald is an American football kicker for the Florida State Seminoles.
Early life and high school
[edit]Fitzgerald attended Colquitt County High School located in Colquitt County, Georgia. Coming out of high school, Fitzgerald was rated as a three-star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the Florida State Seminoles.[1][2]
College career
[edit]In Fitzgerald's first collegiate season in 2019, he would redshirt and not appear in any games for Florida State.[3] During Fitzgerld's first season as the Seminoles starting kicker in 2020, he hit four of his seven field goals while also making all 12 extra point attempts.[4] In week five of the 2021 season, Fitgerald made the game-winning 34 yard field goal, to help the Seminoles beat the Syracuse Orange.[5] Fitzgerald finished the 2021 season, making ten of thirteen field goal attempts, while also converting on 37 of his 40 extra point attempts.[6][7] In the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl, Fitzgerald went two for three on field goals, including hitting the game-winning 32 yard field goal, in a win over the Oklahoma Sooners.[8] During the 2022 season, Fitzgerald hit 12 of his 20 field goal attempts, while making 57 of his 58 extra points.[9] During the 2023 season, Fitzgerald had a breakout season making 19 of his 21 field goals, while also converting on all 58 of his extra point attempts.[10] In week zero of the 2024 season, Fitzgerald was named the ACC special teams player of the week after converting on his one extra point attempt and two fifty yard field goals, including a career long 59 yard fiel goal versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.[11] Fitzgerald accepted an invite to play in the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl.[12][13]
