Palestinian militias in the West Bank exist as semi-autonomous or independent armed groups formed to fight against the Israeli occupation of the region. They have taken on primarily defensive roles, engaging the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during its raids into the Palestinian enclaves of the West Bank, while occasionally conducting small-scale offensive operations against Israeli military outposts, checkpoints, and settlers.[1]
