Nadir Al Zoghbi (Arabic: ندير الزعبي) is a Syrian novelist, poet, and writer. He has authored several novels and short story collections. His first published work was in 2012. He is recognized for his novels such as Ten Nights and a Night, Euro, and Abeel.
Career
[edit]Al Zoghbi made his literary debut in 2012. His novel 'Ten Nights and a Night,' published by Arab Scientific Publishers in 2014, features a narrator journeying through time and space.
The following year, Al Zoghbi's first short story collection, 32 Fahrenheit, was published. The book features twenty short stories, including "The Sink", "Light", "Coffee Cup", "Box", "Matchstick", "Poetry’s Tongue", "Solo", "Fur", "Polar Bear and Refrigerator", "Chatter", "First Bullet", "Bouchard", "Last Call", "Sound of Silence", "Peace", "Not a pipe", "Abracadabra", "Kisdor", "Squirrel and Cherries", and "32 Fahrenheit".
In the same year, Al Zoghbi's second collection of short stories, Ghosts of Pictures, was published with Fadaat, followed by the book Euro, published again by Arab Scientific Publishers.
Published on March 15, 2019, by the House of Culture for Publishing and Distribution, the novel Abeel is considered his most acclaimed work. It narrates the tale of a man afflicted with 'pituitary gigantism,' who possesses an enormous body, towering height, and a bloodied face that instills fear and invites ridicule and mockery. Despite becoming a sensation—a subject for headlines, a novel, a painting, and even the protagonist of an international film about giants—journalists and TV hosts eagerly sought him out for interviews. Yet, none of this attention alleviated his deep-seated anguish.
