Muthorai Palada, also known as M. Palada, is a village located about 10 kilometers southwest of Ooty in Tamil Nadu, India.[1] It falls within Nilgiris district.[2][3] The pincode is 643004.[4]
Landmarks
[edit]A tribal museum opened in 1995 in Muthorai Palada, and aims to preseve the cultutal heritage of the tribes in the area.[5] It is located within the Tribal Research Centre.[6] The research center is also involved in creating livelihood opportunities for the tribal communities, and raises awareness of issues faced by the tribes.[7][8] The Nilgiri Mountains have been home to several indigenous tribes including Toda, Kota, Kurumba, Irula, Paniya and Kattunayakan.[7][9]
Eklavya Model Residential School in Muthorai Palada is part of Government of India's scheme for schooling of children of scheduled tribes across India.[10][11]
Good Shepherd International School, founded in 1977, is located in Muthorai Palada.[12][13]
Economy
[edit]Agriculture is a key sector of Muthorai Palada's economy.[14] The village has carrot, garlic and potato farms.[15]
