Jose Conceição Almeida was an IAS officer and Goa's Chief Secretary. He served as Goa's Chief Secretary[1][2] of Goa, Daman and Diu, when Goa was a union territory. He served as first Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission[3] when Goa became a State in 1987.[4] He was inducted into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from 01/01/1998. Dr. JC Almeida served as a government official both under the Portuguese regime (Director of Planning and Statistics of Goa, 1958 - 1961) and after Goa's Liberation from Portuguese rule (Chief Secretary of Goa, Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission). He also wrote the book 'Goa Administration before and after 1962' [5] This book is used as a source of reference in the Goa University Library[5] and in other institutions.[6] He was also an economist, completed his PhD in economics at the University of Lisbon.
