Jaylen Raynor is an American college football quarterback for the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
Early life
[edit]Raynor grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina and attended East Forsyth High School. In his week one of his senior season in 2022, Raynor had a breakout performance completing 12 of his 26 passing attempts for 170 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 343 yards and three touchdowns, as he helped beat Northwest Guilford High School.[1] He was an unranked quarterback recruit and committed to play college football at Arkansas State over offers from Army, Air Force, Navy, UMass and Miami (Ohio).[2][3]
College career
[edit]During Raynor's true freshman season in 2023, he was named the 247Sports True Freshman of the Week after his performance during the Week 5 game against UMass.[4] He made his first road start during that game and finished the game with completing 20 out of 35 passing attempts for 383 yards and a program record of six touchdowns along with 35 rushing yards.[5] He is also the 19th FBS player since 2000 to throw for 375 yards and six touchdowns in a single game with 35 rushing yards.[6] He was also named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week along with being named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 and a Manning Award Star of the Week.[7]
In 2024, Raynor returned as the Red Wolves starting quarterback.[8]
