Jan Kumstát (born 2 January 2007) is a Czech tennis player.[1][2]
Career
[edit]In the summer of 2022 he won gold in the singles at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Banská Bystrica.[3]
He was part of the Czech team that won the 2023 Junior Davis Cup.[4]
Competing in the junior events at the 2024 Australian Open he made his debut at a junior grand slam tournament.[5] He defeated home favourite Hayden Jones on his way to reaching the final.[6][7] In the final he lost to Rei Sakamoto of Japan.[8] He also reached the quarter-finals in the 2024 Australian Open – Boys' doubles with Norwegian partner Nicolai Budkov Kjaer.[9]
Playing alongside compatriot Jan Klimas he reached the final of the boys' doubles at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships where they were defeated by Alexander Razeghi and Max Schönhaus.[10][11]
Personal life
[edit]He is from Prostějov, he is the son of ice hockey player Pavel Kumstát. His mother Kateřina was a volleyball player.[12]
