James Mockoski received his B.A. in Film/Video from UCSC and graduated with an M.A. in Film Archiving from the University of East Anglia. In 2002, he joined Francis Ford Coppola's company and supervised the restorations of some classic films such as The Godfather series, Apocalypse Now (1979), The Conversation (1974), Tucker (1988), and The Cotton Club (1984). He recently restored the 1982 film One From The Heart: Reprise, which has been selected to screen at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. Under The Maltese FilmWorks he restored Johnstown Flood (1926), Invention for Destruction (1958), The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (1962), and A24’s re-release of the 1984 classic Stop Making Sense (1984).
