Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Tripura (IUT) is a private university located at Agartala, Tripura, India. It was established in 2004 through an Act of State Legislature (Tripura Act of 2004).[1]

History

The ICFAI University, Tripura was established under the provisions of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University, Tripura Act 2004 (Act No.8 of 2004), vide Government of Tripura Notification No. F.2 (529)-DHE/UDCA/2003 dated 15.06.2004.[2] It is one of eleven universities established by The ICFAI Group.

Campus Infrastructure

The IUT campus is at Kamalghat, Mohanpur, West Tripura district in Agartala. The campus is spread over 32 acres and has over 6 lakhs sqaure feet of built-up area with academic blocks, laboratories, faculty rooms, auditorium, seminar halls, computer labs, library, medical center, workshops and other student facilities. The campus is capable of accommodating up to 600 students.[3]

The University of Tripura is approved, recognized, and listed by the University Grants Commission UGC,[4][5][6] under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE),[7] Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI),[8] Bar Council of India (BCI).[9] The University is a recognized member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)[10], Association of Indian Universities (AIU).[11]

IUT has the following departments and schools on various subjects like engineering, law, business, commerce, education, humanities, clinical psychology, science, sports, yoga, nursing, liberal arts, library and information science.[12]

The campus is situated in Kamalghat, Mohanpur, West Tripura district 22km from Badharghat railway station and 20km from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.

On 21 September 2024, Shri N. Indrasena Reddy, Hon'ble Governor of Tripura visited[13] the 19th Convocation Ceremony at IUT and Prof. T. G. Sitharam Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), was also present during the event.[14]

On 24 September 2024, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Tripura visited the inauguration of fresher's welcome programme at IUT.[15]

2024 Tripura Floods

In response to severe flooding and humanitarian crisis in Tripura[16] since 18th August 2024,[17] ICFAI University, Tripura contributed ₹ 5 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to assist affected communities. Additionally, the university distributed food packets to over 1,000 families in the flood-affected areas.[18]
