Morad Mirza Hesam o-Saltaneh (Persian: سلطانمراد میرزا حسامالسلطنه; 1818 - 1883) was an Iranian general, governor and prince of the Qajar dynasty; being one of the 26 sons of Abbas Mirza.[1] He gained prominence as a seasoned commander during the Revolt of Hasan Khan Salar (1846–1850) and the Second Herat War (1857), which both resulted In Persian military victories.[2] Due to the latter, he is regularly referred to as the Conqueror of Herat (Persian: فاتح هرات)[3] and is considered the last Iranian figure to realize Iran's tendencies towards a Greater Iran.[4]
