Green Bones is an upcoming Philippine drama film directed by Zig Dulay from a written story by Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza. Starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, the film is set to be released theatrically on December 25, 2024 as an official entry of GMA Pictures to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival in its 50th year.[2][3][4]
Premise
[edit]A soon-to-be released criminal and a corrections officer is still grieving over the death of his sister opposing the prisoner's release.[5]
Cast

- Ruru Madrid as Gonzaga, a prison guard;[6] this is Madrid's first lead role.[7]
Other cast members include Iza Calzado, Alessandra De Rossi, Michael de Mesa, Sofia Pablo, Kylie Padilla, Wendell Ramos, and Sienna Stevens.[2][8][9]

[edit]In July 15, 2024, GMA Pictures released a Facebook post of a teaser poster of their entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.[10] The film is known as Green Bones, which will be directed by Zig Dulay,[3] who previously directed the film Firefly that won the Best Picture award in the previous year.[11] Green Bones is just one of the first five entries for the film festival.[12]
Moreover, the screenplay is written by national artist Ricky Lee and GMA Public Affairs Assistant Vice President Anj Atienza, while the story is written by JC Rubio.
Release
[edit]Green Bones is set to premiere on December 25, 2024, at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.[4] GMA Pictures signed a distribution deal with American film company Columbia Pictures (through Sony Pictures Releasing International label) to distribute the film.[1]
