The Flexible and Interactive Tradeoff (FITradeoff) is a Multicriteria Decision Making/Aiding method developed by De Almeida et al. (2016).[1], to elicit criteria weights in additive models, within the scope of the Multiattribute Value Theory (MAVT), based on the whole structure of the classical tradeoff procedure. The method works based on partial information from the Decision Maker (DM), which makes the elicitation process easier and less cognitively demanding, compared to other methods based on complete information. Originally developed for solving problems in the choice problematic, the method was expanded for other problematics and several applications have been conducted using the method[2]

The FITradeoff method is operated by means of a Decision Support System (DSS) freely available for users. The decision process is carried out in an interactive manner, in which the DM answers preference questions following a combination of elicitation paradigms: elicitation by decomposition and holistic evaluations [3]. After each new preference information provided, partial results are computed based on Linear Programming (LP) models and displayed for the DM. The DSS offers several flexibility tools for the user, including different types of graphical visualization to aid analysis of results. The FITradeoff DSS can be accessed at www.fitradeoff.org.
