Dayon Hayes (born August 26, 2001) is an American football defensive end for the Colorado Buffaloes. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Early life and high school
[edit]Hayes attended Westinghouse High School located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Coming out of high school, Hayes was rated as a four-star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.[2][3]
College career

[edit]During Hayes first collegiate game in week one of the 2020 season, he notched two sacks and forced fumble, as he helped Pittsburgh to a 55-0 win over the Austin Peay Govenors.[4] In Hayes's first three collegiate seasons in 2020, 2021, and 2022, he totaled 36 tackles with 16 being for a loss, eight sacks, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble in 27 games for the Panthers.[5][6][7][8] During the 2023 season, Hayes played in all 12 games with 11 starts for the Panthers, where he notched 45 tackles with 11 being for a loss, four sacks, four pass deflections, and a forced fumble.[9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Hayes decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal due to NIL issues with Pittsburgh.[10][11]
Colorado
[edit]Hayes decided to transfer to play for the Colorado Buffaloes.[12][13] In week three of the 2024 season, Hayes notched two and a half tackles for a loss, and two sacks, as he helped the Buffaloes to a win over rival Colorado State.[14]
