Purpose

[edit]

Our mind has incredible power that can do wonders and when it’s supported by a giving heart, the universe can take on another shape. Obviously, it’s the universe of the people around us that were not lucky enough to have everything that each of us has and that we can use to give further.

No matter who you are, where you are and what you have, you can make a difference by becoming more responsible. Let these actions be the beginning of something great!

Since Bikers For Humanity Romania is only a nonprofit association, its main gold is to help less fortunate people and children. This entity has no employees, thus everything is done by volunteers, with volunteers for the people in need. The association chief volunteer along with the core volunteers and all the volunteers that help making things work, wish to think that Bikers For Humanity Romania is a family made out of people that take care of other people.

Activities

[edit]

Annual Editions

[edit]

Every year Bikers For Humanity Romania gathers volunteers from around the country, whether motor bikers or not, in a weekend or two, to build projects for people less fortunate. The building site is getting crowded with all sorts of bearded, long haired, leather clothed people willing to help through hard work, but with smiles upon their faces.

2023

[edit]

Bikers for Humanity Romania joined a noble endeavour, together with the Branul Nostru Association. The volunteer motorcyclists gathered their forces to the construction of two buildings intended for disadvantaged families (30 people, including children, elderly people or people with locomotor disabilities), who were living in improvised and unsanitary housing, in the vicinity of a major tourist attraction, Bran Castle. Moe details in the link.

2022

[edit]

The Bikers For Humanity Astronomical Observatory Chalet was an ambitious project. This facility was build for Hundreds of children from underprivileged backgrounds, who are cared for with such dedication by the friends from Casa Bună Association, in Nucșoara, Argeș County. The Observatory was ready for use in 11 months, a real challenge and real effort.

2021

[edit]

This edition had to be organized in a separate format, because the unsure context in which it could be organized, given the COVID-19 pandemic, thus it was better to share the activities to carry out at the 5 centres for institutionalized children in Râmnicu Sărat – Buzău County. 5 houses been renovated from the ground up, Azur, Magnolia, Orhideea, Campionii and Învigătorii

2020

[edit]

Because of the pandemic restrictions, plans for 2020 were postponed for next year. But even so, 2020 was the year in which Bikers For Humanity Romania helped many hospitals with medical supplies, clothes, medical furniture, protective equipment for medical stuff, treated bed linen, even helped build campaign hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

2019

[edit]

More than 300 bikers put a smile on each of the 53 institutionalized children’s faces from the “Cocorii” Center. The goal was to bring them a lot of gifts and improve their living standards from 7 locations: 4 apartments and 3 houses. This year as well, the motor bikers community mobilization was exemplary: in only 2 hours, 250 volunteers signed up, and more than 300 showed up. You know you are a part of something noble, important, humanly, when you read a post on the Internet: “I want to exchange Metallica concert ticket with a place on the Bikers for Humanity volunteers’ list!”

2018

[edit]

Chirnogeni, Constanța County, was the first edition where they went into action without the support of Habitat for Humanity. With the help some generous sponsors, some very open-minded and heartily partners, they did almost intuitively, using the experience from previous editions. The mayor of Chirnogeni was delighted and open to their initiative.

2017

[edit]

After the success at Bacău, they decided that this beautiful movement should move on, being a much too beautiful thing happening to them and that it would be a mistake not to continue. They contacted Habitat for Humanity people and decided to give a helping hand on the construction site in Cumpăna, Constanța county.

This time they established a smaller number of bikers needed… 150. It’s a very good thing that this aspect was set first, as they were „at-risk” to have at least 1000 people coming after the success from the previous year. In such a case, it would arise the problem of ensuring working conditions: tools, protective gear, an entire logistics.

2016

[edit]

In June 2016, 400 bikers from all over the country gathered on the Habitat working site in Bacău. The mission was to accomplish in just one day: 40 foundations for 40 houses destined for poor people. They had to: make the structures/pillars out of reinforced steel, create the cement mix, to use the wheelbarrow for transport and afterward fill in the foundation’s ditches.
