The BYD X PLUS (Chinese name: BYD X PLUS) is a compact crossover SUV produced by BYD Auto since 2021. It is part of the Song series SUV.

The car initially only offered internal combustion engine vehicles equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. As of 2024, the X Plus DM-i is BYD's best-selling SUV worldwide. As of July 2024, the global cumulative sales (excluding internal combustion engine models) exceeded 1 million units.

In 2024, BYD launched the X Plus in Europe, named BYD Seal U. In mid-2024, the model will be launched in Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, named the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i.

Recently, BYD has launched an overseas version of the X Plus DM-i model, as follows:

Vehicle Overview

[edit]

The X Plus was launched in July 2024, named X Plus, as a larger and more "high-end" alternative to the Seal U, positioned lower than the BYD Tang. It occupies the B-class SUV segment market in China, equivalent to the global D-class car segment market. Among them, battery electric (EV) models will join the series in 2025.

The X Plus is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotatable central infotainment screen with third-generation DiLink system, a karaoke function, and a full LCD instrument panel.

The gasoline version models briefly launched between 2020 and 2021 use a 1.5-liter BYD 472QC I4 turbocharged gasoline engine and a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, with a power output of 136 kilowatts (182 horsepower; 185 horsepower).

X Plus DM-i:

[edit]

The plug-in hybrid version X Plus will be launched overseas in July 2024. The front-end design of this model differs from the gasoline and electric versions.

These models are equipped with BYD's latest fifth generation DM-i hybrid technology.

As a compact hybrid SUV, the X PLUS DM-i has been upgraded in design, configuration, and performance to provide a better driving experience and range.

Specifically, the new car is equipped with the fifth generation DM-i hybrid technology consisting of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor, with a comprehensive maximum power increased to 234kW, and paired with a lithium iron phosphate blade battery, achieving a comprehensive range of over 1500km.

In addition, the interior of the new car adopts a design layout of a full LCD instrument panel and a suspended central control screen with a rotation function and is equipped with an upgraded DiLink 6.0 car infotainment system, which supports map navigation, downloading multiple apps, 360° surround image system, OTA upgrade and other functions, improving driving convenience and safety.
