Career

[edit]

Haynes is a British actor who started acting at the age of seven.

Haynes landed his first cast TV role within a year of taking up acting, in popular BBC1 drama The A Word, where he plays the role of Olly Chapman. Since then, Haynes has worked consistently in film and television.

Haynes is a keen guitarist and his first breakthrough role was busking on the streets in the Co-op advert for Christmas in 2020 to Oasis' "Round Are Way" with younger brother, Rocco.[4][5] The Commercial went on to win several awards, including “Best Casting Featuring Children” at the Casting Directors Association Awards 2021, at BAFTA.[6]

He has filmed an array of different TV roles in many well known productions such as Gentleman Jack, Dodger, Andy and the Band, Ted's Top Ten, All Creatures Great And Small,[1][7] and Channel 4's Somewhere Boy, BAFTA nominated for best drama.

His films include comedy heist The Duke, where he starred alongside Jim Broadbent and Dame Helen Mirren, crime film The Pure and the Damned, Iniquity and The Boys in the Boat, for MGM, a sweeping story about a 1930s American rowing team where he plays the role of Joe Rantz's grandson, directed by George Clooney.[7] The film had its worldwide premiere in December 2023.

Haynes's first pivotal leading role was released in the summer of 2022, for StudioCanal's The Railway Children Return,[8] where he filmed alongside Jenny Agutter, Sheridan Smith, John Bradley and Sir Tom Courtenay. Haynes plays Thomas, the grandson of Agutter's character, in the family adventure about a group of children evacuated to the Yorkshire countryside during the Second World War.

In November 2022, he was awarded 'Yorkshire's Young Achiever of the Year' for 'Contribution to the Arts'.[9]

Haynes went on to complete filming on feature film Jackdaw for Anton Productions, working alongside Thomas Turgoose, Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen and BBC's The Power of Parker, working alongside Conleth Hill, George Costigan and Sian Gibson.

In 2024, Haynes completed filming on Boxing Biopic Giant, with Pierce Brosnan. Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood are among the executive producers through Balboa Productions. It is produced by Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions and Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions. AGC Studios and BondIt Media Capital are financing the film. AGC chairman and CEO Stuart Ford will also produce. Haynes also appeared the same year in series 2 of The Responder, alongside Martin Freeman and Adam Nagaitis.
