I have removed the redirect from this category and made it a subcategory of Category:People from Newfoundland and Labrador. This matches the behaviour for Category:People from Labrador. I'm in the process of cleaning up the Newfoundland (island) and Newfoundland and Labrador pages "Notable Newfoundlanders" sections to point to this page. There's been extensive discussion on those pages as to the need for a Notable People subsection; this category serves the purpose of identifying Wikipedia articles for famous people from the island of Newfoundland, as opposed to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Rules of Thumb

So far I'm only adding people to this category whose Wikipedia articles list them as having been born in Newfoundland. I'm not sure if this is a valid criteria or not, although this is usually implied when stating that someone is from somewhere.
