Nomination for deletion
[edit]I do not know why this page was nominated for speedy deletion. I did not create it as a test page but because it is a valid subcategory of Category:Far-right politics. There are already subcategories for the US, Japan, Russia, and France, and numerous articles about the Far right in the United Kingdom. The Four Deuces (talk) 00:34, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
I have written to the editor who nominated this article for speedy deletion to remove the deletion request.[1] The Four Deuces (talk) 00:59, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- You might want to try, you know, actually populating the category. The US cat, for example, has 26 articles in it, not just one. Bearcat (talk) 01:19, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. I just created the page and will now add to it. The Four Deuces (talk) 01:29, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
More detailed needed - main article link?
[edit]I would like to see more detail on this category added per WP:Categorization#Category_description Leaky Caldron 11:54, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I see a whole load of differing articles have been included in this newly created cat, some of the inclusions are not political at all, what are the boundaries for inclusion in this cat? It seems very vague, is it if a cite can be found in a newspaper supporting the cliaim, or should political ambitions be a stated policy, the cat is contested on the original page it was inserted on as the political asperations of the group have been been disputed. Could someone add some details as to the details required to fit this cat. Off2riorob (talk) 12:12, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Same as for the other similar cats. Verbal chat 12:14, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Which is what? Have you got a link to that information or guidelines Off2riorob (talk) 12:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Please state which entries you dispute and I'll look into them. I think as far as possible entries should be moved into subcats, and this category adds useful organisational structure and a catchall for ones that don't fit into further sub-categorisation. Verbal chat 12:28, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- There are no guidelines then? I will take my time and do those things, there is no rush to do anything, at least on my part. Is that what you think this is "a catchall" , I see it as a troublesome addition that will do nothing of any value. Off2riorob (talk) 12:31, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- When I say "catchall" I mean "will suffice for things that are related to far right in the uk, but do not yet fit into a subcat". This is standard for supercategories. What criteria would you like to add? Verbal chat 15:11, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- The articles I added to this template had already been classified as UK far right but were no category had been created. No one ever complained about the list before. Essentially all these articles have the term "far right" in the lead as well as refererence to the UK or part of the UK, hence "Far right politics in the UK". The Four Deuces (talk) 15:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Are you planning to add more detail on this category per WP:Categorization#Category_description or just leaving it as a sort of meaningless portal page? Leaky Caldron 15:42, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I would have thought that the category name "Far right politics in the United Kingdom" was self explanatory and none of the other "far right" categories have any detail. The purpose of categories is to enable people to find articles rather than defining the articles. I have put in a link to a main article Far right in the United Kingdom. Do you have any suggestions for additional text? Since this category is a subcategory of "Far right politics" it may make sense for the definition to be there.
