[edit]- Category:Detective video games to Category:Video games about detectives – C2C: Consistency with other categorization within video games - these are games based on the narrative aspects of detectives , and not a genre of video games Masem (t) 20:31, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Comment – This category should be more clearly defined as well. Right now, it's a bit of a catch-all category covering both the narrative theme ("video games starring detective characters") and the gameplay/genre aspect ("video games with detective work as a primary gameplay element"). If renamed as suggested, it should probably be defined as being narratively about non-police detectives (private investigators, amateur sleuths etc.) to avoid excessive overlap and redundancy with the similar Category:Video games about police officers. I suppose they could be merged as well, but while there is some overlap between these two categories there is clear distinction as well (not all detectives are police officers nor are all police officers detectives), so I don't think that's appropriate. Alternatively, this category could stay as-is (or renamed appropriately) to be specifically about the detective genre in video games, featuring detective work as a major aspect of gameplay. - Oppose per established naming convention in Category:Detective fiction. It is a genre. They're called detective games, just like detective films and detective novels. MClay1 (talk) 13:51, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
