Roman Catholic Church painters
[edit]This is a stupid and pointless category! What does it mean? Does it mean "artists who painted Catholic churches", "artists who painted for' Catholic Churches or "artists whose works have been hung in Catholic Churches.
I have removed Grunewald. He appears to have been Protestant, not Catholic. One of his works does hang in a Catholic chapel.
One of these painters, Michelangelo, did, as is well known, actually paint the fabric of a Catholic Chapel. Most of the others did not.
Can I suggest recategorising this as "Painters of Christian subjects".
Forget the Catholic stuff, because, in the long run, Leonardo's "Last Supper" is equally valued by Catholic and Protestant alike. (regardless of the fact that he was probably a Cathar heretic). Likewise, Grunewald's Isenheim Altarpiece, Michelangelo's Creation of Adam and Fra Angelico's Annunciation. These masterpieces contain nothing that is specific to Roman Catholicism.
This needs fixing! Amandajm (talk) 11:06, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
