Is there any evidence that he is a committed Christian, or merely identifies as part of the Christian mainstream in Australia? There is some discussion on his Wikipedia page that this is not clear cut. Please investigate.

WOW!!! That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't think Peter Garrett is Christian, I think he just identifies himself as a "Christian", but that's what he says. He isn't what you would define as "mainstream".
