Burak Özdemir (born 24 March 1995), known as CZN Burak, is a Turkish internet personality, chef, and restaurateur.[2][3][4][5] His nickname CZN originates from a frequent mispronunciation of the Cinzano, the name of his father's textile shop in Laleli, Istanbul.[6]
Entrepreneurship
[edit]Özdemir owns the Hatay Civilizations Table (Turkish: Hatay Medeniyetler Sofrası) chain of restaurants, which consists of six branches: Taksim, Aksaray, and Etiler in Turkey, and overseas branches in Dubai,[7] Dushanbe,[8][9] and Doha.[10]
As of December 2024 he also has a CZN Burak Gurme chain of restaurants in Amman, Ashkhabad[11], Baghdad, Bradford, and Manchester.[12] In 2022 he and Cristiano Ronaldo announced they would open one in London.[13]
In 2023, Özdemir sued his father Hasan, claiming that he had embezzled funds from the Hatay chain to purchase luxury cars and real estate, and improperly sold licensing rights to his restaurant name.[14][15]
Popularity
[edit]Özdemir's preparation and presentation of oversized versions of Turkish recipes while smiling to the camera have made him an Internet celebrity on platforms such as Instagram, Youtube and TikTok. He sometimes gives the food made on camera to poor people and those in need of food.[16][17][18]
