The Yellow Line (Line 2) is a rapid transit metro line of the Delhi Metro in Delhi, India. It consists of 37 stations from Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Millennium City Centre in the neighbouring city of Gurgaon in Haryana. The 49.02 kilometers (30.46 mi) line is mostly underground and laid under one of the most congested parts of Delhi.[1] The Yellow Line is the second line of Delhi Metro to become operational after the Red Line.

It is the 3rd longest metro line on the Delhi Metro network. This line covers North Delhi, through Central Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi and finally the city of Gurgaon in Haryana. The Yellow line has interchanges with the Red, Blue, Violet, Pink and Magenta lines of the Delhi Metro, as well as with the Old Delhi and New Delhi railway stations of the Indian Railways. The Line also connects with the Airport Express Line at New Delhi metro station. Chawri Bazar metro station is the second deepest station of the Delhi Metro network and is situated about 25 metres (82 ft) below ground level and has 18 escalators.

History

The Vishwa Vidyalaya to Kashmere Gate section was the first underground section of Delhi Metro to be completed and became operational for public. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated this 4 km stretch on 19 December 2004.

Gurugram Metro Plan

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (HMRTC) has plans to establish a metro network spanning 188 kilometers in Gurugram.

Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and operating this metro line, similar to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Currently, all these lines will be developed in the first phase, with further expansion planned in the second/upcoming phase.
