Arlen López Cardona (born 21 February 1993) is a Cuban professional boxer. López was a highly accomplished amateur, winning gold medals at both the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics.[1][2] López also won gold medals at both the 2015 and 2019 Pan American Games, the 2014 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2015 World Championships. As a professional, he has qualified for his third Olympics in 2024.

Professional career

[edit]In April 2022, it was announced that Cuban amateur boxers would have the ability to fight professionally abroad for the first time since 1962, negating the need for boxers to defect from the country.[3][4] López made his professional debut against Fernando Galvan on 20 May 2022. López won the bout the after knocking his opponent out with a left hook in the opening round.[5][6]
