Apu Biswas (born 11 October 1989)[1] is a Bangladeshi film actress and model.[2][3][4][5]

In 2006, she starred FI Manik-directed Koti Takar Kabin as the lead female opposite Shakib Khan for the first time, with whom she later acted in more than 75 films.

Early life

[edit]

Apu Biswas Megha was born on 11 October 1989 in Bogra, Bangladesh to Upendronath Bishwas (d. 2014) and Shefali Bishwas (d. 2020).[6][1][7] Apu is the youngest had three daughters and a son.[7]

Career

[edit]

Biswas made her debut in the film industry with the film Kal Shokale in 2006.[1] She then performed in Koti Takar Kabin. Biswas played the role of Parvati in the 2013 Bangladeshi remake of Devdas.[8] She performed in the 2013 film My Name Is Khan.[9]

Personal life

[edit]

On 18 April 2008, Biswas married actor Shakib Khan.[10] The couple has a son, Abraam Khan Joy (born September 27, 2016).[11] They had kept their marriage a secret until 10 April 2017 when Apu appeared on television with her son and revealed it.[12][13][14][15] Khan filed for a divorce on 22 November 2017,[16] and the couple was divorced on 22 February 2018.[17] Biswas had converted to Islam after her marriage with Khan and took the name Apu Islam Khan,[18][19][20][21] but she reportedly reverted to Hinduism after their divorce.[22]

In February 2024, Biswas purchased nomination papers from Bangladesh Awami League for the seats reserved for women in Jatiya Sangsad for the Rajshahi Division's Bogra zone. But she eventually did not get the nomination.[23]
