League C is the third and lowest division of the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League, the second season of the international football competition involving the women's national teams of the member associations of UEFA. The results will also be used to determine the leagues for the European qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Format

[edit]

League C consists of the teams ranked 33rd and lower, according to the Women’s European Qualifiers overall phase rankings (based on the Women's Euro 2025 qualifying overall ranking, taking into consideration promotion/relegation at the conclusion of that competition),[1] split into three groups of four teams and three groups of three teams.[2] Groups with four teams will play six matches within their group, and three-team groups will play four matches, using the home-and-away round-robin format with double matchdays in February, April, and May/June 2025.[2][3]

The competition will also act as the first phase of the qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will use an identical league structure. The six group winners will be promoted to League B for the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifying competition. In addition, the two best-ranked runners-up of League C will advance to the promotion play-offs against the two best-ranked third-placed teams of League B. The winners of the home-and-away ties will enter League B for the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifying competition, while the losers will enter League C.[3][2]

Seeding

[edit]

Teams were allocated to League C according to the Women’s European Qualifiers overall phase rankings,[1] and were seeded into three pots of six teams and one pot of three teams, based on the same ranking.[2][3]

Gibraltar and Liechtenstein entered the tournament for the first time, having not entered in the previous edition. This will be both women's teams' first official competitive international tournament.[4][5][6]

The draw for the league phase will take place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on 7 November 2024 at 13:00 CET. For political reasons Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot be drawn in the same group. Due to excessive travel restrictions, Kazakhstan cannot be drawn into a group containing more than one of Andorra, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, or Malta.[2]
