The 2024–25 season is the 116th season in the existence of Borussia Dortmund, and the club's 49th consecutive season in the top flight of German football. In addition to the domestic league, the club are also competing in the DFB-Pokal, the UEFA Champions League, and the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.

This season is the first since 2011–12 without midfielder and former club captain Marco Reus, and the first since 2018–19 without defender and former club captain Mats Hummels, who both departed after the end of their contracts, marking the first Borussia Dortmund season since 2006–07 without either of the two at the club.

Summary

[edit]

On 13 June, Dortmund announced the departure of coach Edin Terzić after spending two seasons in his second spell with the club.[1]
