The Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC)i s an autonomous body responsible for promoting and coordinating health research in Nepal working under Ministry of Health and Population.[1] [2]It was established in 1991 under the Nepal Health Research Council Act, the NHRC works to improve the nation's health status through high-quality scientific research while upholding ethical standards.[3]

It was originally formed as the Nepal Health Research Committee under the Ministry of Health in 1982, the NHRC now collaborates with government agencies, non-government organizations, and the private sector to provide guidance on health research and policy matters.[4] It identifies and prioritizes national health issues for research, ensuring technical and ethical standards are maintained.[5]

The NHRC also makes guidelines for the doctors and hospitals.[6] Additionally, it serves as the country’s regulatory body for the ethical review of research proposals from various institutions and authorities.

It publishes Journal of Nepal Health Research Council (JNHRC), a Pubmed indexed journal.[7]
